Response by Stephen Salmore

"The continued failure to reach an agreement to build a new stadium in Newark for the New Jersey Nets and devils is due more to the lack of public support than the ability of the YankeeNets and New Jersey officials to craft mutually acceptable terms. Despite the fervent bipartisan support of New Jersey "shakers and movers" New Jersey voters never favored the project. Without public support and without a sympathetic Supreme Court decision, the necessary public funding cannot be mustered."
