So the fat lady hasn't sung yet in the 2005 election, but Corzine remains in the driver's seat. Maybe Forrester can draw some solace from losing by a respectable margin. For Corzine, his raison d'etre is now GOTV. If Corzine does a good job turning out his very diverse democratic base, he will be in great shape. Forrester seems unlikely to mount a ninth inning rally, his best hope is really for Corzine to commit a late error that gives him the game. As they usually do, New Jersey voters have made this race closer, but have yet to bring Forrester much above the 40% mark, which is not good enough. see also: |
