“Overall, the public's impression of Governor Corzine remains moderately strong.  While it remains to be seen, initial indications are that public employees will stick with the Governor despite a less than generous contract.  Of course, ratification of that contract has not yet occurred. The financial cornerstone of the Governor's proposed budget, however, seems to be in serious trouble.  Public opposition to the privatization of the state's turnpike and lottery is hardening. In an election year it is unlikely that the legislature will adopt these proposals with out a significant improvement in public support.  While the Governor has several months to try to change the public's mind on these proposals, it would be wise for him to start working on plan B.”
