Response by Stephen Salmore

"Bob Torricelli is trailing Doug Forrester for one reason – this election has become a referendum on him and his behavior, and the voters want him gone. It almost doesn't matter who his opponent is – almost half of voters have never heard of Doug Forrester. So far issues don't matter, because most voters can not get past their view of Torricelli as unethical and unbelievable to consider his positions on issues. Torricelli will lose this election unless events or Forrester makes a misstep that takes the focus off the Senator. So far, this doesn't appear to be happening."
