Methodology, Questions, and Tables

The most recent poll by Fairleigh Dickinson University's PublicMind was conducted by telephone from October 28 through November 3 using a statewide, randomly selected sample of 921 likely voters aged 18 and over. The sampling error for 921 adults is 3.2 percentage points at the 95 percent level of confidence. In that time frame, 683 interviews were conducted from October 28 through October 31 and 238 interviews were conducted from November 1 through November 3 using the same survey instrument. Each group constitutes a random sample. Survey results are also subject to non-sampling error. This kind of error, which cannot be measured, arises from a number of factors including, but not limited to, non-response (eligible individuals refusing to be interviewed), question wording, the order in which questions are asked, and variations among interviewers. The interviews were conducted by TMR, Inc. of Parsippany, NJ. Professionally trained interviewers using a CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing system) conducted all interviews. Random selection >is achieved through computerized random-digit dialing. This technique gives every person with a phone number (including those with unlisted numbers) an equal chance of being selected. Likely voters are screened through a series of questions. Results are also mathematically weighted to match known demographics.
