Republican Response

While some of the negativity caused by the gubernatorial campaign has subsided, this survey shows that New Jersey 's electorate is still, by and large, an unhappy bunch. The right track-wrong track numbers combined with Governor-elect Corzine's tepid approval rating suggest the new governor is not going to have much of a honeymoon. Jon Corzine needs to define his administration quickly by acting on issues that the public cares about, like ethics reform and property taxes.

For the most part, the image of past governors improves with the passage of time - until they fall into obscurity.
