Response by Rick Thigpen

Good news for the Democratic Party: Governor McGreevey and his administration are viewed very positively by the voters. Despite being dogged by the financial mess he inherited from the previous administration(s), the Governor has been able to maintain confidence in his leadership. While President Bush has used war with Iraq to distract voters' attention from the stagnant economy and the fiscal mess he has created in Washington, our Governor has been forced to balance a budget in bad economic times and be judged by his actions. This positive attitude about his leadership will be the foundation of political success coming for the Democrats in the coming election and into 2003.
